Shoeboxes Full of Love

Our Year 10 DofE Bronze students had a lovely day delivering shoeboxes and helping with the sorting and packing in the warehouse of local charity, Shoebox Full of Love just before Christmas.

The community-led shoebox appeal to help homeless and vulnerable men, women, children and animals across Liverpool & Merseyside during the run up to Christmas has returned for its 4th year. The Shoebox Full of Love campaign quickly grew in 2014 when appeals were made via social media for donations of gift wrapped boxes filled with necessities. In the past 3 years, they have achieved a reach of over 15,000 people helped, giving them a total reach of over 150,000 single donations.

As well as collecting donations to put in the shoeboxes from our school community, staff, students, parents and Rose Lane Dental Practice, the students also helped to deliver the shoeboxes to a number of centres.

These included a hostel for homeless men and women, a family centre in Croxteth who support 100 families with 250 children between them, Croxteth Gems were so thrilled with the presents we brought for 250 children. We also collected a huge donation from an opticians in Crosby.

The students had a brilliant time, being able to see first-hand where their items were going and the impact they would have.
