Dear Parents and Carers

October has certainly made its mark as those wet journeys to and from school are punctuated with bouts of heavy rain.  As colleagues and I stand on the ‘redline’ greeting students as they enter the building, we have remarked on the number of students that are coming to school without a coat.  During these wet winter months it is essential that all students come to school in a coat to prevent them from wearing a wet or damp uniform for large parts of the day.  Wearing just a blazer is not sufficient waterproofing.

attendance every day mattersWhilst attendance remains higher than this time last year: a year to date figure of 94.06%, it is still incredible to witness the number of students who think it is acceptable to complete a 4 day week, staying off school on a Friday.  Along with lateness, I shall be working with other colleagues to look at how we address both of these current issues.  Thank you to those parents who encourage 100% attendance and regard it as a high priority.

Remember attend today: achieve tomorrow.

Please continue to work with your child to ensure they attend today.

Whilst we look at long term strategies to deal with attendance we are focusing on the 4Ls through tutor time sessions and around school:Lateness; Walk on the Left; Litter; Lollipops.

We are aiming to address all of these (4Ls) over the next few weeks.  Please could you remind your son or daughter of the importance of putting litter in an appropriate bin or better still recycling it, whilst remembering that lollipops are not allowed in school because of the health and safety issues that surround them.

Sports Update

Year 9 boys played really well as a team in their match against Broadgreen last week. Our boys were 3-0 up after just 15 minutes and ran away with the match winning 6-3.

Man of the Match goes to Jaden Evans-McKay for excellent performance and fitness levels whose skills caused the opposition defenders problems throughout.
