Attendance Matters

We’ve started to see a more improved pattern with all Year groups seeing at least one day with 94% or above.

Year 10, again, establishing a strong pattern of good attendance given that they are now only 12 months away from sitting their GCSEs will put all those pupils who are individually 95% and above in a really good position going forward to achieve their personal best next year.

Well done goes to Years 7 for a solid effort.  Year 8 started off magnificently but have struggled during the latter half of the week.

Years 9 and 11, what a turnaround!  Really concerning Monday for both year groups but over the course of the week things have improved dramatically.

However, Friday is again our Achilles heel and across Years 7, 8 and 10 took a significant dip.

Exams Keep Calm StudyEnd of Week 1 – Year 11 exams

I’ve written a letter to all parents and carers to give a summary of what has taken place so far with regards to GCSE exams, what to expect next week and how we can continue to help and support each other during the entire exam season.  It is in truth very much a team effort you can find a copy of the letter here: Letter-to-Y11-parents-end-of-1st-week-of-exams.pdf

It never rains but it pours…

Friday morning 06:20 I and the site team were greeted with the unpleasant sound of running water.  Looking up into the Atrium roof, a small hole kindly left by the beak of a seagull had left us a little hole through which a cascading waterfall had developed.

Luckily, Peter from the site team had sprung into action, mopping up the area, finding containers to catch the leak and make sure the area was safe for pupils to arrive.

As I type, we are expecting the roof specialists to arrive shortly, patch up the hole so everything will be back to normal by the end of the school day.

DofE Bronze Congratulations

28 Year 9 students successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh assessed expedition on Thursday and Friday last week. They did so with an exceptional spirit and attitude despite the most horrendous weather conditions. They were a great credit to themselves and to the school.

Liverpool Citizens Support Scheme - Help in a crisis

There has been a huge rise in issues due to the roll out of universal credit and because people on some benefits got an early payment over Christmas the DWP “system” registered it as two payments and then reduced benefit payment for January and February.

Did you know that if you find yourself in crisis you can apply for support to get food and basic necessities for you and your family including gas and electric vouchers (urgent needs) and furniture and household essentials (home needs). An emergency or crisis might be a fire or flood, or you have had to move due to violence or fear of violence, or you are leaving care or prison and need support to stay in the community.
