Key Stage 4
Choosing to study a GCSE in a language compliments every other GCSE subject. It improves students’ knowledge of their own language which helps students of English Language and Literature, it boosts creativity for those who study Art, it develops problem-solving skills for those who study Science or Maths and helps create a better understanding of other countries and cultures for those who study History or Geography. All of our GCSE students follow the AQA course in the language they have chosen. This is a two-year course, which is broken down into four skill areas: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The course comprises 60% spoken and written coursework and 40% terminal examination (listening and reading) taken at the end of year 11.
