At Gateacre School, we believe in giving our students meaningful opportunities to lead, represent others and make a positive contribution to their school community.
Our new student leadership team has already started making an impact after being elected by their peers through a whole-school polling process. As part of their election campaigns, each candidate created their manifesto poster, setting out their ideas and explaining why they would make a strong student representative.
Student Voice in Action
The election gave students across Gateacre the opportunity to consider the candidates, hear their ideas and cast their vote.
Before voting, students were introduced to the fundamental principles and ground rules of democracy.

Pupils learnt about the importance of listening respectfully to each candidate, considering different views and ensuring that every student had an equal opportunity to participate.
Students were also taught about the importance of privacy and confidentiality when casting their vote, as well as how the polling process works.

Since being elected, our Head Students, Deputy Head Students and Sixth Form Lead have already begun putting their ideas into practice and representing the views of their peers.
Our Deputy Head Girl and Deputy Head Boy gave speeches atour recent Year 6 Open Evening. They shared their own Gateacre experiences and emphasised what students can gain from being a student.

Hear from our Head Students
“Alongside the other Head Students, I will do everything in my power to help students feel happy and safe. I want to help make positive changes across the school, support my fellow students and help them become successful, honest and brave people.”
Joel - Head Boy
“I am delighted to have been chosen as Head Girl. I’m excited to be able to voice the views of my peers and hope to be someone everyone can turn to if they have ideas or need someone to talk to."
Bella - Head Girl
“I would like to introduce regular support sessions, including assemblies, as well as homework support. I would also like to create a safe space where students can talk to someone and know that they are being listened to.”
Caitlin - Sixth Form Lead
Our student leaders are already demonstrating leadership, responsibility, confidence and community spirit helping to shape the Gateacre experience for students across the school.
And there are more opportunities to discover Gateacre for yourself. Our Year 7 Open Mornings and Sixth Form Open Evening are the perfect opportunity to explore our school, meet our teachers and find out more about the opportunities available.
